Meet John Constantine, a man trapped between worlds, destined to go to Hell for a suicide attempt, but battling desperately against the Underworld and all its hellish minions in a vain attempt to buy his way into Heaven. He also happens to be dying of Lung cancer due to his lifelong chain-smoking habit. If any of this is making sense to you then you're probably already big fans of the original comics – if not then you're in for an unexpected treat.
Though it does differ in many ways from said graphical novel/comic - "Hellblazer" ; Mr Constantine is no longer a Scouser (I don't think Keanu could have managed that accent, not after his last attempt at "English" in "Bram Stokers Dracula"), nor does he have blond hair, and now he lives in America instead of England, it still manages to stays faithful enough to the original values and ideas of the series (John is still a sardonic and uncaring bastard) which means it's still dark enough, exciting enough and humorous enough to appease even die hard fan boys. Basically it's all that "Hellboy" should have been, but wasn't.
